Obama's many promises

Let us see how many of these promises actually come to fruition. My guess is less than 10%.
Found Via Stumbleupon, here. The ones that make me chuckle a little are marked with italics. This reminds me of the 6th grader running for class president promising free ice cream, and no school on Fridays.

Taxes

• Give a tax break to 95% of Americans.

• Restore Clinton-era tax rates on top income earners.

• "If you make under $250,000, you will not see your taxes increase by a single dime. Not your income taxes, not your payroll taxes, not your capital gains taxes. Nothing."

• Dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes.

• Give American businesses a $3,000 tax credit for every job they create in the U.S.

• Eliminate capital gains taxes for small business and startup companies.

• Eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000.

• Expand the child and dependent care tax credit.

• Expand the earned income tax credit.

• Create a universal mortgage credit.

• Create a small business health tax credit.

• Provide a $500 "make work pay" tax credit to small businesses.

• Provide a $1,000 emergency energy rebate to families.

Energy

• Spend $15 billion a year on renewable sources of energy.

• Eliminate oil imports from the Middle East in 10 years.

• Increase fuel economy standards by 4% a year.

• Weatherize 1 million homes annually.

• Ensure that 10% of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012.

Environment

• Create 5 million green jobs.

• Implement a cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

• Get 1 million plug-in hybrids on the road by 2015.

Labor

• Sign a fair pay restoration act, which would overturn the Supreme Court's pay discrimination ruling.

• Sign into law an employee free choice act — aka card check — to make it easier for unions to organize.

• Make employers offer seven paid sick days per year.

• Increase the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2009.

National security

• Remove troops from Iraq by the summer of 2010.

• Cut spending on unproven missile defense systems.

• No more homeless veterans.

(My note - hahahahahahaha ::wheeze::: hahahahahaha)

• Stop spending $10 billion a month in Iraq.

Finish the fight against Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaida terrorists.

Social Security

• Work in a "bipartisan way to preserve Social Security for future generations."

• Impose a Social Security payroll tax on incomes above $250,000.

• Match 50% of retirement savings up to $1,000 for families earning less than $75,000.

Education

• Demand higher standards and more accountability from our teachers.

(Note: As someone who got their bachelors degree in Elementary Education, I find this laughable at best. The majority of people who want to be teachers today, (at least at Chico State, one of the "best" public teaching schools in California), are freaking idiots. I mean that in the broadest way possible. Once, we had to answer the question, "How many stars are there in our solar system?", and over half the class answered 4,000,000,000. No Joke.)

Spending

• Go through the budget, line by line, ending programs we don't need and making the ones we do need work better and cost less.

Haha, nice trying to appeal to Libertarians, Barack. I don't think you fooled anyone though. If one government program gets cut during your administration, I will be completely taken by surprise.

• Slash earmarks.

Health care

• Lower health care costs for the typical family by $2,500 a year.

• Let the uninsured get the same kind of health insurance that members of Congress get.

• Stop insurance companies from discriminating against those who are sick and need care the most.

• Spend $10 billion over five years on health care information technology.

Funny pictures

These are a few of my favorite things...

Lolz

I made this one myself.

I have returned!

My triumphant return begins with a game that has sucked up far too much of my time, and is definitely, in the words of fazed, a mother bitch.

Driving whilst high on Salvia

Be sure to watch this video to the very end.

Ps. I don't think anyone reads this, but if you happen to stumble on this site and know how to encode a video that doesn't give you the code, I would be most appreciative if you let me know. :)

Dogs...

I think I originally found this video about a year or so ago, but I think it is still great. I want a dog. please. (cue boyfriend via puppy dog eyes and pleading)

Oh Joss Whedon....

I am a big fan of Joss Whedon, from Firefly to Buffy, this guy is a great writer/director. Here is his newest creation, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog a sweet story about a villan who is in love with a girl who is in love with the hero, starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion. If you have the 45 minutes to watch this, please do. It is fantastic

Grammar Nazis

It appears that someone decided that lolcats needed a bit of an education. These are hilarious. Maybe even more so than their grammar-deficit friends.

I like how the girl in the background is oblivious to this awesomeness

Yes, Sir.

Alice in Wonderland Remix

This has been floating around the internet for awhile and is just fantastic. Turn your speakers up.

I can't say much, I work retail.

I also recommend poking around this site, there are many other funny comics, especially if you are a bit of a nerd and like computer humor. (And aren't we all, if we are stumbling away at the internet?)

WAARGGGBBBBBL

This reminds me of camp. During campfire, at least once every year, someone would do a sketch utilizing this technique. I still have a hard time looking at faces upside down and not seeing these automatically.

And they all come tumbling down

I love watching people fall down. It is just funny. The only thing that is greater than normal people falling down, is watching beautiful skinny bitches fall down. It makes up (a little) for the fact that I will never be as tall, as beautiful or as skinny as them. It is a tad NSFW due to some accidents with skirts and behinds exposed.

First post

I have no life. Really. This past week, my existence has consisted of watching season 2 of Big Love, season 1 of Six Feet Under (in 2 days), drinking an unhealthy amount of alcohol, and perusing the internet. That last one is the reason I am starting this thing here. I find all sorts of weird stuff on the internet and I want a place to put them. Expect lolcats and demotivators, along with stupid news, fun games, and things that make me scratch my head and go, "huh..," Enjoy it, or if not, don't come back. :)
